Home of the Oxford Stars Supporters Club
The purpose of the Supporters Club is -
- To encourage members of the public to support the team by attending home and away games.
- To provide a line of communication for the supporters to and from the team.
- Wherever possible to provide extra financial assistance to the team by means of fundraising activities at the committee’s discretion.
- To promote the team by means of publicity.
One of the ways that we do this is by selling merchandise at the Supporters Club table on Match nights. We will be selling replica shirts, both home and away, together with our popular range of other clothing including polo shirts and fleeces. The Supporters Club table also sells, badges, key rings, pens, photos and many other things. Prices start at a few pence.
December 2009 is the silver jubilee of the Oxpens rink and the rink is organising various events to celebrate this event. This also means that the Stars are also 25 years old and so as to not miss out, the Supporters Club will be doing a number of things to celebrate. There is talk of a “Stars reunion” and special anniversary merchandise.
If you are interested in travelling to away games why not let the Supporters Club know and we will try and link you up to car share and reduce your travel costs. Mention has been made of a possible Supporters “overnighter” for the Isle of Wight, although the fixtures have not be kind to us in this respect. If you might be interested, please contact us and we will see if there is sufficient interest.
This season the Supporters Club will also be continuing to run its Uniting Oxfordshire in Sport project. This is a scheme where we link up with other sporting clubs in Oxfordshire to share best practices, with the potential for some reciprocal advertising and some discounted match tickets. If you are the member of another sporting club, based in Oxfordshire, contact us for more information.
The Supporters Club is managed by a committee, which consists of Ian Dibley, Maria Hobday, Mark Timbrell, Margaret Jones and Chris Farmer. They can be contacted through supportersclub@oxfordstars.com
