What is the off-side rule?

in

This rule can be divided into two parts, off-side and off-side pass.

Off-side happens when when both skates of an attacking player cross the opponents blue line before the puck is passed or carried into the attacking zone. The off-side pass (also known as the two line pass) happens when a player passes the puck from his defending zone to a team mate across the red centre line (results in a face-off).
